Chat
The chat interface is the heart of the Jeen AI Platform. It's where you have conversations with AI — ask questions, get answers, analyze documents, create content, and much more.

The Chat Interface
When you open a chat, you'll see a clean workspace with:
- The message area in the center — showing the conversation between you and the AI
- The input bar at the bottom — where you type your messages
- A canvas panel (optional) on the right — for rich text editing when the AI creates documents
- A sources panel (optional) on the right — showing documents and citations used in the response
Sending a Message
Type your message in the input bar at the bottom of the screen and press Enter (or click the send button). The AI will respond in real-time, with text streaming in as it's generated.

What You Can Include in a Message
- Plain text — Ask questions, give instructions, or have a conversation
- File attachments — Upload documents for the AI to analyze (see Upload a File)
- @ mentions — Reference a specific agent to use (see Chat with an Agent)
Model Selection
At the bottom-left of the input bar, you'll see the currently selected AI model. Click on it to open a dropdown and choose a different model.
How to Change the Model
- Click the model name shown at the bottom of the input bar.
- A dropdown list will appear showing all available models.
- Click a model to select it. Your selection will be remembered for future conversations.
Things to Know About Models
- Different models have different strengths — some are faster, some are more capable, some are better at specific tasks.
- Each model shows a brief description to help you choose.
- Your model selection persists across conversations until you change it.
Reading AI Responses
AI responses appear below your message in the conversation. They can include:
- Formatted text — with headings, bullet points, bold text, code blocks, and more
- Citations — small numbered chips linking to sources the AI used (click to see the source)
- Web search results — if the AI searched the internet, you'll see cited web pages
- Tool outputs — visual results from tools like Canvas, web search, or MCP integrations
- Images — if image generation is used, images appear directly in the response
Response Actions
When hovering over an AI response, you'll see action buttons:
| Action | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Copy | Copy the response text to your clipboard |
| Like / Dislike | Give feedback on the response quality (visible to admins) |
| Regenerate | Ask the AI to generate a new response to the same message |

Editing Your Messages
Click on a message you've already sent to edit it. After editing, the AI will generate a new response based on your updated message.

Conversation Title
Each conversation gets an automatic title based on its content. The title appears at the top of the chat. You can:
- Rename it from the History panel
Tips
- Press Shift + Enter to add a new line in your message without sending it.
- You can have multiple conversations going at once — use the History panel to switch between them.
- If you're not sure which model to use, start with GPT 5.1 (GPT-OSS 120B in an on-premises environment).
